In the new mini catalogue which you can order from until June, there is a beautiful suite called Floral Delight. It includes stamp set, dies, two DSP kinds – one of which is vellum, daffodil delight ribbon and cute mini bees!! It is bright and cheerful yet elegant.
This week I used it in my FaceTime Live to create two cards. Both were CASES but one of them was adjusted into centimetres for use here in Australia. The first one is inspired by Diane Vander Galien on Simply Diane’s Stampin’ Spot. She also uses the Spotlight on Nature circle dies.
It has a base of Lemon Lolly and the first layer is Daffodil Delight with a layer of DSP on top and then a Basic White circle (cut from Spotlight with Nature Dies) placed on that. The Floral Delight dies were used to cut out the branch from Pecan Pie and I used Old Olive ink for the stamped leaves and Daffodil Delight and Lemon Lolly for the flowers with a section cut off (all of these were diecut). The flowers are two step stamping and I find it easier to stamp the darker colour first, as it is a good guide for placing the lighter colour. The sentiment is stamped in Pecan Pie with a piece of Daffodil Delight ribbon under it and ‘Wishing’ is die cut in Basic White and Pool Party cardstock and adhered together. I added some double adhesive sheet to the Pool Party and this makes it easier to add to the lower layer. Some iridescent gems (now retired) and the bee as embellishments were added at the end.
The second card was inspired by Sue Stampfield. It is called a Floating Vertical Bandstand Pop Up card. She was inspired by a card she saw on Iced Images called an Hexagonal Pop up Card. I changed the measurements to centimetres rather than inches and will have instructions you can access. The base (back of the card) is Thick Basic White with DSP. It then uses two Thick Basic White Strips with DSP on them for top and bottom and a piece of window sheet is added down the centre front. This is where I added the sentiments and the flower. I used an antique pearl for the centre of the flower. The back is also decorated with a Basic White panel for writing on and two strips of DSP on either side and a strip along the bottom centre.
This is a stunning card and looks so elegant. Sue has made many different versions of it on her website, so, go have a look. I know I cannot wait to use this design again.
I do have a video of this creating of my cards on my Youtube channel as well.
